IIRC For Edinburgh, we had public liability insurance for DebianDay, and
for the rest of the time we declared that it was a private conference
for ~300 people over 2 weeks, with the attendees being covered for
medical and personal injury -- the reason for that distinction being
that if it was considered public for the whole period, it was _much_
more expensive.

I presume the buildings are all insured by the government (so if our
wiring burns them to the ground, it's not out problem)?

Insuring everyone for emergency medical cover, and personal injury,
seems like a good plan, since even though people should get decent
travel insurance, many won't, and if someone manages to slip on the
stairs and break their spine, it would be nice to know that they'd get
enough of a pay-out to give them a half decent quality of life.

I seem to remember that we got quite good cover for about 1200.00 GBP in
2007. It's possible that, since we're in a government owned public
building, we effectively get cover from the government, but if that's
the case, it would be nice to have what that means in writing, so that
they don't change their mind when something happens.

Cheers, Phil.
