I forwarded also the discussion to the attendee's mailing list [1] to have a wider range of opinions more than 1 week ago. So far, nobody has raised any reason against having Debconf the last week of July, and we only have good points: - no overlap with other conferences (desktop submit, chaos c. camp) - no overlap with ramadan (possible logistic problems) - last year's conference was in August, so it is good to have it in July for people who can not take holidays easily in August. - better for students from some countries in the southern hemisphery who have their winter holidays usually in the end of July.
