Hi,

(Cc'ing you, do not hesitate to let me know if that's inappropriate)

First of all, as a long-time volunteer in DebConf and many other events, and as
a past DebConf organizer, I would like to thank you for volunteering for the
conference, none of what is happening over these two weeks would work at all if
it weren't all the volunteers doing amazing work day and night.

As another volunteer, I would kindly suggest that you not take any action
regarding facilities at your own discretion, and especially so without an
agreement by the organizers (people who have been wearing green staff t-shirts)
of the conference. Especially especially so for actions that would incur a cost
to yourself.

As I understand it, the issues that you have raised have been noted by the
organizing team, and I trust that they will assess the situation and take
appropriate action as soon as they are able.

Overall, in my experience as both an organizer and a volunteer, when a
volunteer task feels overwhelming, or if the assignment is stretching beyond
your knowledge or comfort, it is more than welcome to go back to the organizers
and tell them that you're unable to complete the task.

Floor tiles have been displaced in some places in the venue, when we have been
able, to allow for cable runs in false floors avoiding trip hazards (that would
be incurred from cables running on the ground in traffic areas). I believe that
the areas where floor tiles have been lifted have been delineated as hazard
zones, but if an area with a displaced floor tile has not been marked as a
hazard zone, and if the organizing team has been notified of this fact, I trust
that this will be rectified soon.

This is up to the organizing team, who have been liaising with the facilities
team of the venue, to escalate this issue to them if they think it is
appropriate to do so.

Thank you for raising these issues,
