I've added another ad-hoc meeting to the noticeboard by the front desk Room: Wien (second floor, building A) Date: Monday 17 August Time: 14:00
Free software is not free to produce. Developers need to eat, pay for computers and electricity and even pay expenses for attending fun events like DebConf. Crowd funding on sites like Kickstarter and IndieGogo is an option many individuals and businesses are looking at. This BoF is an opportunity to discuss questions such as: - what are the options for crowdfunding? - is it OK to promote fundraising activities through communities like Debian, using resources like the mailing lists, Planet or DebConf? Should Debian actively support such initiatives and under what terms? - how to run a crowdfunding campaign? - what is the ratio of time/effort spent on promotion vs the time/effort spent on development? - have incomplete projects made it harder for people to raise funds? - are there options like escrow that could improve confidence? - are there any specific projects that you would like to see promoted in this way, even if it is not your own project? _______________________________________________ Debconf-discuss mailing list Debconf-discuss@lists.debconf.org http://lists.debconf.org/mailman/listinfo/debconf-discuss
