Hi I plan to travel to Debconf by train. As several other expressed interest in going to Debconf by train as well, I thought we might coordinate our travels together. After some searching on the web timetables and talking to the Swiss Railway office I have put togheter a proposal which could be intersting for everyone planning to come by train from Switzerland or Germany and possibly also Austria and other (eastern) european countrys.
The plan is to take the night train from Switzerland
(Zurich/Bern/Geneva) to Barcelona and going from there to Cacares on the
next day. People coming from other parts of europe, where it is not
feasible to first go to Switzerland could join the group either in
Barcelona or Madrid. There are night trains to Barcelona and Madrid from
Paris and from Italy.
The advantage of the night train from Switzerland is, that you only need
a one country (Spain) interrail pass valid for 3 days (1 day won't be used, but
there are no 2 day passes) plus the surcharge for the night train and
the high speed trains in spain.
If there is sufficent interest in a group travel I propose that I will
take responsibility for reserving the night trains and the trains in
spain for all interested persons. Like this it will be possible to
travel together in the same compatement. All the persons traveling with
the group have to buy their interrail passes and additional ticket to
come to Switzerland for themselves.
Prices for surcharges: night train 117.- CHF one way (approx. 78 Euro)

barcelona - madrid 17 CHF one way (approx. 12 Euro)
madrid - caceres 11 CHF one way (approx. 8 Euro)
Dates: I plan to attend at least part of Debcamp. So I will leave
Switzerland either on Friday 07/17 or on Monday 07/20. The night train
only goes on Mo/We/Fr. The train back would be on Thursday 07/30. As far
as I understand it, Thursday is the general departure day. Is this
correct or does the conference end on Thursday evening and most people are
staying until Friday?
To see if there is sufficent interest and when most people want to

If you have better ideas for how to travel to Debconf by train, feel
