i don't get the swap-question * swap is bad * swap is absolutely bad in virtual machines * waste a hyperfast and expensive SSD for swap is uhm missing the words hence, we have *anything* virtualized starting with 2009 on VMware vSphere but not a single guest machine has any swap assigned, there is plenty enough memory and if you system needs swap consider add RAM or reduce memory usage by not that much innodb_buffer_pool because it's worth is degraded if it comes to swap
