Hi,

it took sometime for the answer ;-)

Today I have done a quick and dirty benchmark with the first 30000 rows of mimeparts.

Block Size: 1KB
Size on Drive: 741376K
write 290 Seconds
read 34 Seconds

Block Size: 4KB
Size on Drive: 692224K
write 103 Seconds
read 31 Seconds

Block Size: 8KB
Size on Drive: 720896K
write 88 Seconds
read 31 Seconds

Block Size: 16KB
Size on Drive: 827392K
write 80 Seconds
read 30 Seconds

UNCOMPRESSED
Size on Drive: 1128M
write 79 Seconds
read 25 Seconds

The machine was idle while testing but the configuration was in production state, so caching could happened, so it maybe completely useless.

I took 8K Block Size.

Hi,

Has anybody done any performance and storage tests for innodb with regard to dbmail 3.0. Like using compression and partitioning on the email data tables?

https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/innodb-compression.html
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/partitioning.html

Also, any recommendations on setting the various innodb buffer sizes, that deviate from the standard recommendations? Maybe someone can simply share their experiences with tweaking innodb on a dbmail install.

Regards,

Aleksander Kamenik
