Alexander,
If dbmail daemons loose their connection to the database all forked
children are shutdown immediately until the connection is restored. If
database actions fail during delivery a 503 error is returned to the
lmtp client (postfix). However, if lmtpd still somehow manages to accept
messages without succesfully inserting them in the database we have a
bug. I don't see how this would be possibly in 2.2.2, but if you can
reproduce such behaviour please file a bug and include a level=5 debug
trace.
