Your impression is incorrect. David Nibletta wrote a patch for 2.0, and Aaron
Stone is finishing up the sieve support that will have this capability (and
more) as a side-effect. But nothing solid at this time.
I tried getting this to work but logs are
showing that dbmail-lmtpd is 'checking for domain forwards'.

You can try if David's patch works for you. Good chance it will if your setup
fits some policy assumptions made in that code. Ask David for his latest patch,
or search the dbmail-dev listarchives as well as the bugtracker.
