Hello DBMail users all:
I seek some thoughtful input from DBMail's fabulous user network.
I am working on a future version of DbMailAdministrator (DBMA) to administer
DBMail2.2.x.
(http://dbma.mobrien.com/) and wish to ask DBMail users to think a little
about how you might use the marriage of LDAP and MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQLite
user/alias mapping, if at all, in your future mail systems.
DBMail 2.2 is a very exciting prospect with many new features anticipated.
Maybe you don't know as yet if you would use LDAP with DBMail 2.2 at all.
Maybe you already have some experience testing DBMail dev 2.1.x.
Does anyone intend to use LDAP mailAcceptingID as the primary method of
authentication in their MTA (Mail Transfer Agent i.e. Postfix) and DBMail?
In lieu of SQL? As well as SQL?
Does anyone have a quantum on where in the scale of accounts (numbers of)
LDAP becomes the quicker ID and authentication method than SQL, or not?
These may not be the right questions. You say what you think...
I am trying to figure out how extensive and redundant should I write the
LDAP and SQL user data (name/alias/password) interface (GUI) -- or not.
By the way, if you have any feature requests for future versions of
DbMailAdministrator, they too are most welcome and appreciated.
Thank you kindly for your consideration...
best...
Mike
