Aaarrghh. Don't do that!

No. It just means dbmail will only talk to mysql running on localhost.
The imap/pop/lmtp daemons will still be reachable.

is nataraj the dbmail database?

if not try something along the lines of:

adduser dbmail
addgroup dbmail
sed -i -e 's/^EFFECTIVE_USER=.*/EFFECTIVE_USER=dbmail/' \
        /etc/dbmail.conf
sed -i -e 's/^EFFECTIVE_GROUP=.*/EFFECTIVE_GROUP=dbmail/' \
        /etc/dbmail.conf
sed -i -e 's/^user=.*/user=dbmail/' \
        /etc/dbmail.conf

chown dbmail:dbmail /etc/dbmail.conf
chmod 600 /etc/dbmail.conf

mysql>GRANT ALL ON dbmail.* TO [EMAIL PROTECTED] identified by 'mypasswd';

etc...
