Paul,

I believe you mentioned that in 2.0.6 and above, dbmail now
opens a new connection to the database every second to make
sure that it's alive rather than using the pgstatus function.
(for PostgreSQL)

I was wondering what the reason for that change is?  I've
noticed that now if I look at a netstat output for TCP that
I have nearly 200 connections to the database sitting in
TIME_WAIT status.  I'm assuming that these are keep alive
connections.

I realise that this shouldn't be a problem, but it seems like
this could be accomplished better, but then I'm not the
developer so I'm probably missing something.
