I had the same problem first,(Suse) and it can be solved in more ways, with 
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, LIBPATH , with, prefix ,but I have made symbolic links to 
the /usr/lib from the /usr/local/lib files and of the /usr/local/lib/dbmail 
directory.
