There is a serious attempt at ldap authentication in the codebase, but for now I'm yet to hear of anyone using it in a production environment.

Afaik, there are many loose ends; both in terms of the code as well as documentation. I've included a partially finished example schema file with matching dbmail.conf and documentation for all the ldap options in the experimental debian packages at debian.nfgd.net. The code was originally written for using it against an active directory server, but I've suggested before that a 'stand-alone' implementation using a dbmail.schema file could provide a good baseline.

Anyone with a production ldap email environment and ldap c-api experience should be able to bring the code into a usable shape without too much hassle. Mind you, however. There has been some discussion on the devel list because of not-quite complete separation in the codebase between the storage and authentication layers.

Check the devel list for more indepth.

I haven't found much information out there on using DBMail w/ IMAP. I currently have all my users in an ldap directory that I also use to authenticate w applications such as a Samba PDC, and Horde. I want to use DBMail because it would make creating user accounts a painless process.

Can anyone point me to some information on how to get DBMail working with an existing LDAP directory?
