On FreeBSD it may be called something else, or may have a totally different mechanism. It would be easier probably to ask a FreeBSD guru how ld looks for libraries. Overall though, Jesse is right, autoconf needs to be made to try all the different paths in mysqlibpaths if ld can't find it on its own. I have little free time right now, but I will put it on the list of things to do, but Jesse will probably beat me to it. Ryan
