hmmm sounds a bit familiar; however we experience the load consuming just once in a few months or so. we are investigating this matter :-)

The restart problem is probably due to the kernel not freeing the imap port for listening (yes reuse socket option is on) immediately; you can verify this by examining /var/log/mail.log right after you start the imap daemon: in case of this failure it will output something like 'could not bind address to socket'.

Hi all,

After dbmail-imapd (1.1 with the "@@" patch), has been running for a while (24 hours roughly) the load average goes up to 1.5 - 2.5 while no imap connections are hitting the box. The load doesn't get this high when everyone in the office is using it.

Killing dbmail-imapd solves the problem, however the first attempt to start it again ALWAYS fails, while the second attempt works without a problem.

Any ideas?

Chris
