hmmm sounds a bit familiar; however we experience the load consuming
just once in a few months or so. we are investigating this matter :-)
The restart problem is probably due to the kernel not freeing the imap
port for listening (yes reuse socket option is on) immediately; you can
verify this by examining /var/log/mail.log right after you start the
imap daemon: in case of this failure it will output something like
'could not bind address to socket'.

After dbmail-imapd (1.1 with the "@@" patch), has been running for a
while (24 hours roughly) the load average goes up to 1.5 - 2.5 while
no imap connections are hitting the box. The load doesn't get this
high when everyone in the office is using it.
Killing dbmail-imapd solves the problem, however the first attempt to
start it again ALWAYS fails, while the second attempt works without a
problem.
Any ideas?
