If you're running MySQL as supplied with any major Linux distribution, innodb isn't installed. Virtually guaranteed. Only the Windows ZIP file comes with innodb pre-configured. Go to www.mysql.com and download the "mysql-max" appropriate to your system. If you're using RPMs, you'll need both the MySQL and MySQL-Max RPMs, because the latter only includes the innodb support, NOT the rest of the server. Basically, download ALL the RPMs, except the benchmark (unless you want to run the test benchmarks). For what it's worth, the Windows MySQL server runs great on Windows XP Pro, so, if you have some hardware that isn't supported on Linux right now (like some IDE RAID controllers), don't let that prevent you from setting up a great MySQL box... -- Best regards, Jeff mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
