If you're running MySQL as supplied with any major Linux distribution,
innodb isn't installed. Virtually guaranteed. Only the Windows ZIP
file comes with innodb pre-configured.

Go to www.mysql.com and download the "mysql-max" appropriate to your
system. If you're using RPMs, you'll need both the MySQL and MySQL-Max
RPMs, because the latter only includes the innodb support, NOT the
rest of the server. Basically, download ALL the RPMs, except the
benchmark (unless you want to run the test benchmarks).

For what it's worth, the Windows MySQL server runs great on Windows XP
Pro, so, if you have some hardware that isn't supported on Linux right
now (like some IDE RAID controllers), don't let that prevent you from
setting up a great MySQL box...
