Hi

I have looked through the archives of this mailling list and searched
the net for virus scanners that work with dbmail/postfix. I have found
several that claim to work with postfix but reading the INSTALL or
README files has always left me a bit confused over wether it might work
or wether it might break the postfix/dbmail duo.

There is no reason why you can't run a virus scanner before you hand off the email to dbmail. Just use procmail or maildrop.

If you're running postfix, checkout amavis (amavis.org). It will plug into postfix via the content_filter setup easily, supporting virtually all available virusscanners. All of this is explained in the README.postfix
that comes with amavis.

amavis allows you to use spam assasin beside the virus scanner. check out spamassassin.org
