thanks jeff, that did the trick. was wondering though...how would one know that if it isn't in the documentation? i don't really know postfix all that well...so i am at a disadvantage there. also, how could setting that local_recipient_maps affect other users?
my system is a shared production/test system. i know that is bad practice, but its all i have to work with. so my users are straight postfix/courier-imap users with maildir while i am testing dbmail and have to use the same postfix as i use in production. just thought i would clear up where i am coming from here. thanks, shon > Hello shon, > > s> reason: 550 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: user unknown in local recipient > table > > Do you have a line similar to this in main.cf? > > local_recipient_maps = mysql:/etc/postfix/mailbox.cf > > where mailbox.cf contains the parameters for checking an address > against the dbmail aliases table, such as: > > user = postfix > password = password > dbname = dbmail > table = aliases > hosts = 192.168.2.2 > select_field = alias > where_field = alias > > > -- > Jeff Brenton > President, > Engineered Software Products, Inc > http://espi.com > Questionable web page: http://dididahdahdidit.com > > Liberalism grants you the freedom to advocate any idea*. > * Please see http://www.dididahdahdidit.com/except.php for a > current list of exceptions > > _______________________________________________ > Dbmail mailing list > Dbmail@dbmail.org > https://mailman.fastxs.nl/mailman/listinfo/dbmail -- "power off einstein" - moe syzlak
