I am a newbie using dbmail.
I am using qmail with dbmail. I got qmail working
and I installed dbmail by following the instructions on the dbmail install file.
I tried using dbmail-smtp -d [EMAIL PROTECTED] to see if the message would be
stored in the mysql
dbmail database. I querried the dbmail database in the table messages and
didn't see anything.

Did you add a user with [EMAIL PROTECTED] as an alias ?
Did you edit the dbmail.conf to set DBMAIL_FROM_ADDRESS and POSTMASTER to
sensible values, else bounce messages end up in a big black hole at dbmail.com.

is there a log file for the dbmail-smtp errors?

Log messages end up in syslog.

Check the TRACE_LEVEL for [SMTP] in dbmail.conf. Increase the level to
5 to get a complete backtrace for message insertion.
