ok.. works fine now.. too many children.  I'll have to look at mysql's
config to see where it limits server connections.  maybe i need more fd's

A couple more things that you might want to change:

dbmail-imapd/pop3d/smtp should probably go in /usr/sbin

dbmail.conf may want to go in /etc/dbmail/dbmail.conf

Here's something that probably needs to be fixed upstream.. the
dbmail-imapd root process should write a PID file for easy start/stop (so
you don't have to do the killall on it, kinda messy)

TRACE_LEVEL=2 is probably enough for a default value.. considering that
the default 5 outputs the passwords and other sensitive info to syslog.

other than that.. it looks good.
