Hi chris,
the daemons need to be started as root, otherwise it is not allowed to
bind to a port <1024. The daemons however drop their privileges after
the network setup running effectively as user nobody.

Regarding those IMAP folder problems, I also found that I couldn't get
DBMail to work on the standard IMAP port unless I made the daemons run
as root. Sound right or am I just openning up far too many security
holes without need?
