The messages table has a messagesize field. I trust the reported value in it is accurate.
>From the man page on dbmail-smtp: Status: O dbmail-smtp [-n] [headerfield] dbmail-smtp [-d] [addresses ...] DESCRIPTION The dbmail-smtp program inserts messages from the commandline or from any MTA into the Dbmail mailsystem. The program reads from standard input. Options: -n Deliver messages to the recipient MIME header specified in headerfield. -d Deliver messages to the recipients specified by addresses. These addresses are seperated by spaces. This option is mostly used for delivery to Dbmail from an MTA. I used the 'formail' utility to insert the complete Dbmail archive into Dbmail, and afterwards I popped the messages into a Lotus Notes (mail) database to be able to use FT search on the archive. Syntax is something like: cat /tmp/dbmail.mbox | formail -s dbmail-smtp -d [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 08/01/2003 03:33 Please respond to dbmail To: <dbmail@dbmail.org> cc: Subject: [Dbmail] Inserting DBMail messages Hi, I have two questions. If I have an E-Mail message, what is the correct length to report to DBMail for it? Is it the number of characters including line feeds or does the total not include line feeds? Secondly, is there a call that I can use to directly insert a message into a specific mailbox? An existing hierachy of mailboxes is in place that needs to be preserved.
