Hi there,
for some versions of darktable I translate the blog article and publish
on my blog.
And I get response for this.
Since darktable is a great piece of software this feedback is positive
in many cases. But my part in this is marginally.
So I wanted to share a translation of one of the comments here which
gives some "user-experience" with current dt 3.4 as I feel I have to
forward this thanks of a user to those who really are the ones
contributing to this project.
Hello, thanks first of all to the developers. I was able to install the latest
version on both Ubuntu and Windows without any problems.
Currently I work with the settings in the processing with "scene referred processing" as well as in chromatic adaptation with "modern". What I have noticed enthusiastically, after opening in the darkroom, the images are actually already almost perfect for me (am the fan of the natural rendering). To achieve this result, much more work was needed before. The color calibration is really a real help in judging or setting the white balance. I actually change the color temperature here until the "light bar" turns white at the CCT setting. If I do this via "determine from area", the display "in the light bar" becomes white, but the image is a bit yellowish for me when it comes to difficult lighting conditions. I then often find the optimum value to be an average between changing the color temperature directly and "determine from area".
Where I'm not sure is what would be the better module for sharpening, the contrast equalizer or yet again the sharpen module. Also the denoising (profile) module is used less.
The default workflow alone develops the image very well and noise is much less noticeable. Where in
the previous versions the module "local contrast" and haze removal the preset brought
good results, now significant reductions are necessary. Whereby one needs the module "local
contrast" almost no more.
Many things have become easier, you reach your goal faster and the color tones
are really hit very well.
