Dear Darktable List,

I am having a curious problem with false colour in darktable.

It happens when I use the D500 camera with fine detail. It does not have
an AA filter so I would expect some false colour sometimes. Here is the
example with feathers:

I have tried Rawtherapee and it does not show the effect:

I have tried:

1. All the demosaicing algorithms in darktable. VNG/Amaze are better
than PPG, the above example is with Amaze, same as Rawtherapee.

2. All the options in the demosoaicing box

3. All sorts of hacks like defringe, chroma denoise, etc. Even if I
convert the image to monochrome, the colour is no longer there but the
effects of the weird splotches remains. Therefore, I think it's
happening at the demosaic stage

These crops are from the outputted JPEGs, but the preview in
darktable/Rawtherapee looks the same.

Many of my shots have this effect because I mostly shoot birds.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Sincerely,
Jason
