That choice is just about 10 years old. And we are a lot to agree with you, but it's, by now, just darktable history. And that had been discussed many times. But yes, not the place to start a discussion again. The better place is Github issue I linked in my first answer.

I just find it a very odd style choice to do it everywhere. It’s an automatism to write capital letters and while scanning text it also guides the reader. But I guess this isn’t the place to start a discussion. Just my 2 cents :-)
