I see. If I can find some time I plan to do a build from current master
this afternoon. Then I will try again to reproduce your freeze with an
up to date version of master. Unfortunately I can not try with 20.04,
not yet installed on any of my hardware.

Yes, I piped the last -d all session into a text file so I have it
all. But there is no indication of anything amiss. It just stops cold.
And the compile has no complaints.
