Anwer to the list is better. And add: stars with no icon remains not visible on some images (but will be the same for all themes as it's a color problem regardless of the bottom main tint on images). The only way to be sure not rating stars are visible 100% of the time, these needs to be done with Gtk (so not my skills) and be sure stars are always below the image and not outside. If you want that, creating an issue and pointing to @alicvb would be better. By now, CSS part is done.

@AlicVB: if you read that...

Hello Alexander,

Yes, I know but as I was needed to rework completely the CSS to optimize it and to also make more consistent all icons on thumbnails (including stars), I didn't improve that in last merged CSS. But good news, it's already fixed on my side and even accessible on Github. It's still a work in progress but you could follow my actual CSS rework (about 90% done actually) here: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/pull/4959

First commit is the optimization all of thumbnails work by AlicVB, so it's include consistent icons on thumbnails (and so stars). Feel free to test.

Another commit with some other improvements on the UI (and a better CSS) is coming, probably tonight as I'm near to finish CSS rework.

Best regards,

Nicolas Auffray

Hello

In current git, using grey elegant theme, stars are not seen in the film
strip if image is vertically oriented.
