EXIF information is a messy business. The FLOSS "de-facto" standard library used by everyone is Phil Harvey's exiftool. Recently I used it to study some of my images; a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART was rendered as Canon 17-40 by the tool.
The only "real solution", I think, is to implement messy manufacturer-specific rules and even hardcoded lists of lenses and use all kinds of hacky ways to determine actual used lens. Not an affair everyone wishes to participate. - Mike On Fri, Apr 3, 2020 at 11:58 AM Vincent Agudelo <my.unkn...@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hello, > > I noticed that in the Image "information panel" in the "lens" section, my > lens is not identified correctly > > it says "Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG" (even the lens correction module says > so) > > but my lens is > Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD > model A007E (canon mount) > > camera body > Canon 5D mk ii > > here is a screen shot > https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CvEfwqi1nYAsP5GSIZpJSddi2yxYMOHw/view > > as a reference , here is a sample raw file created using the lens > https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YZu7JO68sSIZIDBbg2ZZn7yO6p2vrz5C/view > > my Tamron lens is available as an option in the lens correction module. > > so maybe this is just a display issue ? or it confuses the lens with the > sigma ? > > thanks ! > > -- > -VINCENT AGUDELO > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > darktable developer mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to > darktable-dev+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org ___________________________________________________________________________ darktable developer mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-dev+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
