I think you're confusing two different things here. The original
question/answer was about geotagging *added within darktable*, not added by the
camera. For cameras which allow geotagging, that information will be in the RAW
file (but if you use darktable to change the geotagging in the database, the
RAW file will still have the old geotags, because
darktable_does_not_touch_RAW_files_ever).
