Hi,
G'MIC is an open-source framework for image processing, which can be
also used via a popular gimp plugin.
I have written a darktable module, which allows to apply G'MIC filters
in darktable. I have written this module mainly for academic reasons to
be able to test which G'MIC filters might provide a be useful extension
to darktable. G'MIC comes with a lot of filters. Not all of them are
actually useful in a digital photography context or may even provide
valuable new features to darktable. Some are just to slow, for others
darktable already has a similar/better functionality, some artistic
filters are just beyond the scope of darktable and digital photography.
Nevertheless, G'MIC comes with a lot of features one might want to
utilize in darktable too.
The current version of the G'MIC module is suitable for advanced users
only, who are familiar with the G'MIC scripting language, see
https://gmic.eu/tutorial/basics.shtml Note, that the G'MIC gimp plugin
can log the applied script on the console. This is useful when you want
to apply the same effect in darktable.
If you want to play with G'MIC filters in darktable go to
https://github.com/rabauke/darktable/tree/gmic To compile the module,
the G'MIC development files have to be installed.
Try the script
fx_emulate_film_bw 4,100,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,50,50
to get a first impression what the G'MIC module can do. Note that this
is pre-alpha software. There might/will be breaking changes in future
versions. Ideas and suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
Heiko
