Tobias, I sent the question because I saw the French friends uploaded their .po files 9 days ago (so I thought 2.4 strings were already ready but I missed them!). If we still have not reached the 'string freeze' for the manual I can wait. By the way I think it was a very good idea the possibility to have on the [very nice] new website the translated manuals online and not only in .pdf format.
Maybe - simply to have a more consistent manual - I can try to use the fr.po file (purged from all the French strings) to obtain the 2.4 version of the it.po file.
