There are some solutions to run different Linux-Distros in the WSL:

Yes, the whole WSL is a hack. And everything using it inherits that.
It should be made available to the
general public in March.
What should be made available? You installation instructions? What do you mean
with "should"? And why March?
I'm looking forward for the official Windows build, and can do
occasional testing, if the dev team is interested.
That would be good.
