An electronic letter writing campaign requesting that the US Secretary of Sate, Colin Powell, resign from his position at the State Department. A simple web-based submission form sends messages directly to Powell's office.

Dear IndyMedia Readers,

I just sent a letter to Secretary Powell. It is copied below. After sending it, I thought it may be a good idea to have as many people as possible to send a similar letter requesting Powell's resignation.

If you agree, perhaps you send a letter of your own and inform your contacts about this campaign. Feel free to forward or copy any of my message below in any correspondence.

People can send messages to the Secretary of State here:

--Letter to Powell--

Date: March 26, 2003
Subject: Please Resign

Secretary Powell,

Thank you so much for influencing the current administration to go to the UN prior to invading Iraq. You seem to be the only cool head among a sea of narrow-minded, short-sighted policy makers. It must be difficult at times to be one of the few voices of reason in the Bush Whitehouse.

It's clear to me that we are invading Iraq, in large part, because of its vast oil reserves. The administration did a poor job attempting to show an Iraqi/Al Qaeda connection. Neither I, a majority of the Security Council members, nor a majority of the world's population were convinced.

I was especially appalled by your submission of forged African documents that purportedly showed that Iraq was continuing its nuclear weapons program. I'm sure your were quite embarrassed. How, after this, can you trust those working with and for you?

And now that we are at war and Americans and Iraqis are dying, I feel sick. But again and again on television, people are telling me that we must support our president, since we're at war. ... What? I'm sorry, but I'll never support a policy that circumvents the UN, because a few powerful people simply can.

I think you have no other choice right now (unless you can successfully influence a complete withdrawal from Iraq), other than to resign. I don't know you, but believe you share many of my concerns. You may risk a lot, even your career, but there are far more important things in life. Please do the right thing.

Sincerely,

Tom Stalcup, Ph. D.

Powell covered up the Mei Lei massacre in Vietnam, and was National Security Advisor to Reagan when death squads covered the planet murdering everybody who did not click their heals and salute General Dynamics. Powell ain't going to resign. He loves it.
