War Pretext of the Day
Ari Exploits "People of Iraq"
DAVID GREGORY: So...If they vote with you, then they're living up to their obligations. But if they oppose the United States, they're immoral?
ARI FLEISCHER: I didn't say they were immoral. I said that from a moral point of view, what are the people of Iraq to think when it comes to who was it who fought for their freedom and liberty?
No one knows what the ones who live will think. Their lives are likely to become considerably worse. But for the thousands killed whose lives could have been spared by a few weeks or months of patience at no risk to anyone - conveniently for Bush, they won't be able to think or speak at all. Just like the thousands of Americans killed here who Bush continues to exploit as martyrs for an immoral and rejected agenda.
HELEN THOMAS: How do you know what the Iraqis think - do you think they'd rather be dead? What is this "liberty"? You're going to send 3000 missiles over in 48 hours? How many people are going to survive that?
