Ten years past during the gloomy days of the "Gulf War" and yet here we go again with another threat of an impending war against Iraq. How many petty lives of our overseas workers would once again be compromised, succumbed with fear of losing their livelihood and loosing their lives as productive citizens? After the attacks to Afghanistan last year, how many innocent lives would be lost among thousands and thousands of potential victims of war? How many innocent civilians who do not have even the slightest thing to do with harsh clash of country-to-country in capitalist wars would turn out to be victims of violence being implored by such war.
It would be a common ground for us to have different and more probably opposing opinions concerning this war: whose interest would be best served by such war? Who would be the particular ones who could directly benefit and gain profit from such war? What are its implications and possible direct effects and how would it affect us? According to history, wars don't create any resolution to the problems we are facing at present times, rather it's only by-product are dead bodies with dislocated arms and dismembered body parts and dead bodies more. It does not help in our progress, there are no real winners in wars, it would only cause us more trouble, much trouble we could not possibly handle such events marked an ever-fixed banal history during WW1 and WW2. If there are any gainers in wars, there could only be one group of individuals who possibly would and continually could, they are nothing but the filthy rich capitalists of which aims at expanding their market space while neo-colonizing other countries inferior to them would greatly boost their advantage to sustain their capital and still extend theirs. It quite undeniable the fact that the US initiated by George Bush are the vultures who thirsts for toil and oil, so desperate that they would wage war against war on Iraq to monopolize their industry. Just in case you still don't know, US consumes much with an excess of 20 million barrels of oil a day, while the whole planet consumes 70 million barrels everyday. That is why in the course of US resorting to aggression of Bush along with his accusations to Hussein as the leader of Iraq of having secret weapons of mass destruction, they would convince the whole world that they are justified to wage war against Iraq for having such weapons until the imperialist US controls the monopoly of oil reserve in Iraq. Therefore the war is just another instrument of domination and stealing away force to the weaker countries, this recreates their character of being greedy capitalist country such and as well as all of other capitalist countries for that matter.
Still, one may ask; Why is there a war? It might be well said that such question is nothing new which could be compared to the innate inquisitiveness of humans to ask why is there acne sprouting in our face? Yet, there is a large gap between the acne and the war; the acne naturally and organically comes to reality while war or waging war against other nation is nothing much to do with being organic or natural. Wars would be natural if the society which experiences exploitation and domination. In the current framework in the society today, wars join the ranks of maintaining the process of economy - which means that wars are part of commodification and business, of which it could be a source of interests. In a capitalist economy, wars play a vital part in saving an exhausted economy when there is crisis, such is a way or means of desperation when all does not go well to save itself from the crisis -- the crisis of overproduction. And this is what happens at present times, the answer of the capitalism to its problem is war.
To wrap things up, we then ask ourselves is there any possible gain in wars, obviously there is nothing. Being stated earlier, wars are for the likes of Bush, Hussein, Blair, Arroyo and others who are leaders of a state which survive within the helms of capitalism. As long as capitalism profits itself from us, we would still remain as forgotten victims in the clashes of the giants. Therefore, there is a necessity to oppose the harsh capitalist wars, because there is no peace that could arrived as a conclusion to such war. While the few are living complacently, and the majority is toiling and selling their selves to be able to produce money to buy their needs there could be no peace. When there is no peace, there would be a few who had plenty to eat yet the vast others could have nothing and would eventually die of famine. The opposition to war is not justified because we would just like to have peace. Let us remember that in aiming for peace is not simply forgetting the causes of existence of wars. There are meaningful wars that we should get involved into, this is the war against capitalist globalization that would continue to enslave us just as the policies contractualization in factories and privatization in our local industries, war against the degradation of our nature because of the multi-national companies, and war against the exploiting class!
NO WAR AMONG NATIONS, NO PEACE AMONG CLASSES! BUSH AND SADDAM IS THE SAME, DESTROY BOTH WAR MACHINERIES! DESTROY CAPITALISM! STOP THE WAR ON IRAQ, NOW! _________________ Anti-Capitalist Convergence- Philippines
