Global Hawk under test with German ELINT package
An RQ-4A Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial
vehicle
(UAV) fitted with an electronic-intelligence (ELINT) package
developed
by EADS in Germany underwent two test flights at the US Air Force
Flight
Test Center (AFFTC), at Edwards Air Force Base in California,
during November
2002. The on-board receiver successfully detected radar
transmissions
from emitters at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division,
China
Lake, and relayed them down a line-of-sight communications link to
a German-supplied
ground support station at AFFTC.

Poland selects F-16C/D Block 52+
The Polish ministry of national defense (MND) and the US
Department of
Defense's Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) are expected
to sign
a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) by the end of March, to
cover the
US$3.48 billion procurement by Poland of 48 Lockheed Martin
F-16C/D Block
52M+ multirole fighter aircraft.

UNITED STATES -AH-1Z finishes flight envelope expansion
The US Marine Corps H-1 upgrade programme reached a milestone with
completion
of the flight-envelope expansion portion of the AH-1Z SuperCobra
test
programme by the first prototype (Zulu One), logging 400 flight
hours
by the close of 2002, writes Michael J Gething.

GREECE - First 'Peace Icarus 2000' handed over
The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) officially received its first
McDonnell Douglas
F-4E Phantom (serial number 01507), modernised under the 'Peace
Icarus
2000' programme, from the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) at its
Tanagra

L-3 Communications' Integrated Systems (IS) division has unveiled

details of its twin-track bid for the German/Italian maritime
