Ukraine: Journalist found dead. A journalist who went missing last month
has been found hanged in an apartment in Belarus. The journalist, Mykhailo
Kolomiyets, was the director of Ukrainski Novyny financial news agency in Kiev.
Kolomiyets went missing on October 21 and his colleagues appealed for
police help to find him, fearing he had been targeted because of his
agency's reporting.
Kolomiyets is the third prominent Ukrainian journalist to die in two years.
The press freedom watchdog Reporters Sans Frontieres called on Ukraine's
general prosecutor, Svyatoslav Piskun, to personally take up the case and
offered to send a French pathologist to help in the investigation.
RSF urged the prosecutor not to rule out the possibility of a contract
killing.
