Being schooled in the cognitive sciences, we are most amused by the
requirement
that you can rotate (and presumably scale, stretch, bend, etc.) objects
in your head.
Makes sense though.
Mental abilities (e.g., reading, writing, speaking, visual observation,
mental rotation)
7 Interpersonal Skills (e.g., customer service, honesty,
integrity, dependability)
7 Physical Abilities (e.g., repeatedly lifting and
carrying up to 40 lbs, identifying objects
by touch)
7 Medical Standards:
o Distant vision correctable to 20/30 or better
o Near vision correctable to 20/50 or better
o Color perception (e.g., red, green, blue, yellow,
orange, purple, brown, black, white,
gray) by passing the Farnsworth D-15 color vision test
o Hearing as measured by audiometry cannot exceed: a) an
average hearing loss of 30
decibels (ANSI) at 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000Hz in each
ear, b) single readings of 50
decibels at 2000 or 3000Hz in each ear, c) single reading
of 55 decibels at 4000Hz in
each ear
o Adequate joint mobility, dexterity and range of motion,
strength, and stability, as well
as a complete medical evaluation including cardiovascular
system, hypertension, etc.
o Drug-free as assessed through a drug test
TSS employees will be required to demonstrate daily
fitness for duty free from
impairment from illegal drugs, sleep deprivation,
medication, or alcohol.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
U.S. citizenship.
To be qualified you must have one of the following:
7 High school diploma, GED or equivalent;
OR
7 At least one year of full-time work experience in
security work or aviation screener
work; or with x-ray technician work.
You must also have:
7 Specialized experience in identifying dangerous or
deadly objects in baggage, cargo or
on passengers.
7 The ability to supervise.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
To be considered for employment, you must be able to work
all of the following:
7 Irregular hours and/or shifts
7 Holidays and weekends
7 Overtime
7 Extended hours
7 You must also pass Drug and Alcohol Screening.
7 You must also pass a background investigation including
a credit check.
In addition, you must successfully complete required
training:
7 40 hours of classroom training, and
7 60 hours of on-the-job training, and
7 A certification examination.
