SF Bay Area Cypherpunks April 2002 Physical Meeting Announcement

Agenda:    "Our agenda is a widely-held secret."
As usual, this is an "Open Meeting on US Soil", and the public invited.

This meeting is being hosted by the ChillingEffects.org people.
The ChillingEffects Clearinghouse is a joint project of the EFF
and the Berkeley, Stanford, Harvard, and University of San Francisco law 
school clinics.
Jennifer Urban and Eddan Katz will be talking.
They've been doing a lot of work on issues like Anonymous Speech, DMCA 
lawsuits,
other copyright issues, parody and fan fiction, domain names, and the 
ever-popular
"Help!  I just got a Cease and Desist Notice!" support and database.

Jennifer is on a fellowship from the Venture Law Group, where she practiced
intellectual property law, and is working on Chilling Effects and on Open 
Source Licensing.
Eddan is a third year law student and has worked at the clinic for three 
semesters,
interned at EFF, and worked on briefs on some of the DMCA, 2600, and 
similar cases.

The ChillingEffects folks will be providing drinks and chips,
and will have a projector if you want to give a laptop presentation.
Dinner may spontaneously occur after the meeting,
and there are lots of restaurants a few blocks away.

Plans For Upcoming Meetings:
     * May - Berkeley - The IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy
        will be at the Claremont on the following Sunday-Wednesday.
     * Summer - 1-2 meetings - Peninsula?  Santa Cruz again?


Location:
        Boalt Hall is on Bancroft Way near Piedmont,
        which is the southeast side of the Berkeley campus,
        a few blocks above Telegraph Ave and Sather Gate.

Several ways to get there:
BART - Go to Berkeley, walk South on Shattuck, East on Bancroft.
Driving From San Francisco:
        Bay Bridge -> 80 East (really North) -> Ashby Exit
        Ashby -> slight left on Adeline ->
        Left on Shattuck
        Right on Durant (There's a parking garage on Durant before Telegraph)
        Left on Piedmont, Right on Bancroft.
Driving from the South:
        880N -> 980E -> 24
        Claremont Exit, Left on Claremont
        Slight Left onto College
        Right on Durant, Left on Piedmont, Right on Bancroft
Parking:
        It's Berkeley, so you're supposed to visualize free street parking.
        There's a public parking garage on Durant just below Telegraph.
        There are several closer parking lots with random rules about
                when/whether/how you can pay to park if you're not a student.
