NYC ACC Call for INS demo (english) The New York City Anti-Capitalist Convergence is calling on all anarchists to join in the weekly rally at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Saturday, March 16, 12 noon - 1pm, in solidarity with the Arab, South Asian, and Muslim immigrants being detained there. ACC call - All out for INS demo, Sat Mar 16 The New York City Anti-Capitalist Convergence is calling on all anarchists to join in the weekly rally at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Saturday, March 16, 12 noon - 1pm, in solidarity with the Arab, South Asian, and Muslim immigrants being detained there. They are among the hundreds of people who were unjustly rounded up and detained following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and have been held ever since in violation of their civil and human rights. We're calling on all anarchists to support the coalition working on behalf of the detainees and to highlight our opposition to state persecution of immigrants, Muslims, people of color, and those who oppose US policy in the Middle East and Central Asia. The ACC pledges to respect the tactics and protocols adopted by the coalition and offers its help in delivering a powerful message of defiance to state repression and denial of human rights during the so-called "war on terrorism." Just as anarchists - many of them immigrants - took the brunt of state repression at Haymarket Square and in the Sacco-and-Vanzetti case in years past, so do Muslim immigrants from the Middle East today. Please join us at 11:30am on Saturday, a half hour before the scheduled start of the rally. The Metropolitan Detention Center is located at 29th Street and 3rd Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Take the N or R trains to the 25th Street and 4th Avenue stop. The demonstration is sponsored by: Freedom Legal Defense and Education Project, Arab-American Family Support Center. Cosponsored by: American Association of Jurists; Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund; Brooklyn Bridges, Brooklyn Heights Peace Action, Brooklyn Parents for Peace, Coalition for the Human Rights of Immigrants, DRUM, Labor Against the War (NYCLAW), Pakistan League of America; Prospect Lefferts Voices for Peace and Justice; and others (list in formation).
