An Arab-American leader has asked President Bush to fire Attorney General John Ashcroft unless he repudiates reported comments that denigrated Islam.
The Arab American Institute raised the issue in a statement Friday that cited a Nov. 9 radio commentary in which conservative columnist Cal Thomas quoted Ashcroft as saying: "Islam is a religion in which God requires you to send your son to die for Him.
