Interesting indeed.

There's also that paper (by Rivest) which uses *authentication* keys to
obfuscate a message: http://www.toc.lcs.mit.edu/~rivest/chaffing.txt

The idea is that the message isn't encrypted - it's just filled with
"chaff", and the "good" parts are signed with a secret authentication key,
while the "bad" parts have a fake signature (or maybe a correct, but
irrelevant, one, which would reveal an "innocent" message).

Could the RIP be applied to something like that?
