I've bought any number of cars with cash from individuals -- who never, ever,
asked for my name or address. What do they care? Anybody buying a used car from a
dealer is pretty stupid, in the first place, as it's always cheaper to buy from the
owner, and you get to really feel him out about the shape of the car.
Not only that, but I've also registered the car and got plates many times with
no ID. Many states don't ask for that. They want an address, but you can give
them anything, if you don't care if you get the license renewal notice.
I've also bought lots of guns for cash with no ID. Also just bought a house from
an owner on land contract (contract for deed from the owner) and nobody asked
for an ID. The down payment was with a money order.
