Hey I only read the first half of snowcrash, a couple decades ago, but I finally got the joke in the title — the mind control virus that built the digitized cult faction expressed as the faked, precisely orchestrated appearance of a failed computer display, such that victims would kick around staring obsessively at devices that appeared to be malfunctioning: _just like the real mind control virus_, where it orchestrates the presentation of bugs and failures, just not ones that cause total white noise like in the novel
