then karl and the dictators settle on the idea of simulated time travel.

this is a previously unmentioned space where the network of introjects
and AIs have been planning on doing nonhuman things to meet the
dictator goals, grossly. it's somewhat interesting if also terrifying,
they're using things our genes discovered long ago that aren't very
useful to the meaning of life, and it shows we can already do things
like teleportation but it requires incredible wisdom to do. (you can
teleport by converting your matter to information and reconverting it
from information to matter. this is what "reincarnation" is in
cultures that believe in this. our genes evolved to be timeless --
they teleport already, via co-evolution.) [...]

The reason I'm saying that is that it's obvious that in order to
simulate time travel as I described, you would have to artificially
destroy living beings as well as artificially recreate them in precise
states.
