Social media companies' ability to access and use their customers'
information means they fall outside the scope of the Stored Communications
Act, a California appellate court has ruled, rejecting Meta Platforms Inc.
and Snap Inc.'s argument that the SCA's disclosure limitations mean they
can't comply with subpoenas in a murder case.
