ssmtp is an extremely simple sendmail replacement, which forwards messages to a mailhub (e.g., your ISP's outgoing mail server), and does nothing else.
This is a bugfix release, and an update to the latest debian source and patchlevel (2.62-3, 2009-01-31). This release is compiled with SSL/TLS support, provided by openssl. Use the included ssmtp-config script to configure the service; see /usr/share/doc/Cygwin/ssmtp.README and 'man ssmtp.conf' for more information. Note that the ssmtp-config script will /not/ automatically configure SSL/TLS support -- you must do that manually. [[ compiled using gcc-3.4.4-999 ]] This is the first release specific for cygwin-1.7; the only differences between this package and the simultaneously-released ssmtp-2.62-2 for cygwin-1.5 are documentation related (the README references cygport-0.9.5 and cygwin-1.7.0-45, and the /usr/share/doc/ layout is influenced by the cygport changes between 0.4.x and 0.9.x). CHANGES (from ssmtp-2.62-1) =========================== o Fork for cygwin-1.7 development o updated to latest debian patchset (Debian pkg 2.62-3) - fixes CVE-2008-3962 (which we had already fixed in cygwin release 2.62-1 thanks to Pierre A.
