Yes, please - it will make life much easier if the name 'gcc' chooses the compiler of choice. For that matter, you can set up alternatives so that for now, gcc-3 (or gcc3, for similarity to gcc4?) has higher priority than gcc4, but after the experimental phase ends, the new gcc4 installation is given higher priority than gcc-3 with no further change to gcc-3. - -- Don't work too hard, make some time for fun as well!
