Well, the file exists errors are because the 'rm' never happened, due to the 'unary operator expected' error. And that was a -L/-l problem.
Both postinstall and preremove scripts have also duplicate entries
Geez, that was weird. The "good" part of the script fit into a single screen -- I never thought to scroll down to make sure the 'bottom' of the file I /saw/ was actually the 'bottom' of the file!
